New Website, Built From the Ground Up
If you're reading this, you're looking at it. The brand new One Stop Creative Agency website - rebuilt entirely from scratch, by hand, without a single template or page builder in sight.
The website has been running on WordPress for a while now - ever since we rebranded from One Stop Websites to One Stop Creative Agency. WordPress served its purpose during that transition, but the reality is that I don't build anything in WordPress anymore. Everything I deliver to clients is custom built from scratch. So it never sat right with me that my own website - the one that's supposed to showcase what I can do - was running on the very platform I'd moved away from.
It was time to practise what I preach.
Why We Ditched WordPress
When every website you build for clients is bespoke - hand-coded, tailored to their brand, no themes or page builders - your own site needs to reflect that. Having a WordPress site felt like a plumber with a leaky tap. It worked, but it wasn't the standard I hold myself to.
Beyond the principle of it, there were practical reasons too. The old site had grown to over 40 portfolio pages, 15 service pages, a dozen blog posts, and various landing pages. Managing all of that through WordPress - with its themes, plugins, database queries, and constant update cycles - was adding overhead that just wasn't needed. Load times were creeping up, plugins needed babysitting, and the design was always limited by what the CMS would let me do.
The new site is pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No database. No server-side rendering. No build tools or frameworks. Just clean, hand-written code served as static files. The result? Pages that load almost instantly. And more importantly, a website that actually represents how I work.
What's New
Pretty much everything, honestly. While the overall branding and identity remain the same - we love our dark theme and purple accents - the site has been completely reimagined from the ground up.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Every single page hand-crafted - Over 75 pages, each one individually built and designed. No two portfolio pages look exactly the same because no two projects are the same.
- Interactive 3D hero - The homepage features a custom Three.js particle system that responds to your mouse movement. It's the kind of thing you'd normally see on a big agency's site, and it sets the tone for what we're about.
- Cinematic page transitions - Navigate between pages and you'll notice smooth, app-like transitions. It feels like a single-page application but with all the SEO benefits of a traditional multi-page site.
- Dedicated property media section - Our property media page now has its own fully featured landing page with video showcases, photography galleries, virtual staging examples, and a direct booking form.
- Self-hosted everything - Fonts, scripts, images - it's all served from our own infrastructure. No reliance on third-party CDNs for core assets, which means faster loads and better privacy.
- Mobile-first performance - Compressed images, lazy loading, reduced animations on mobile, and optimised JavaScript that doesn't waste your phone's battery on invisible effects.
The Numbers
I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to performance, so here are some of the things I'm most proud of:
- Over 75 pages - each one individually designed and coded
- 40 portfolio case studies - with 8 different template types tailored to each project category
- 15 dedicated service pages - each with stats, feature breakdowns, process timelines, and relevant portfolio showcases
- Zero plugins - everything is custom-built
- Zero database queries - static files, served instantly
A Showcase of What We Do
The most important thing about this website is that it practices what we preach. When a client asks "can you build me a fast, modern, good-looking website?" - the answer is right here. You're using it.
Every interaction, every animation, every layout decision was made deliberately. The custom cursor that follows your mouse on desktop. The scroll-driven glow line on the homepage. The way portfolio images expand into a full-screen lightbox. None of this came from a plugin or a template marketplace - it was all built specifically for this site.
And that's exactly the kind of attention to detail we bring to every client project.
What's Next
The website is live, but it's never really "finished." I'll be continuing to add new portfolio pieces as projects are completed, writing more articles here on the blog, and refining the experience based on how people actually use the site.
If you've been thinking about upgrading your own website - whether that's a fresh build, a redesign, or a move away from WordPress to something faster and more tailored - get in touch. I'd love to chat about what's possible.
Thanks for visiting the new site. Have a look around - I think you'll like what you find.
